Univision news reveals there are a couple of programming changes ahead. There’s usually a lot of turnaround in the novela world, a place where most shows only get a season that lasts around 100-some episodes or less. With what’s been going on recently, it looks like Univison is looking elsewhere to fill time. Here’s what you need to know.

    Univision news: Nearing the end

First, Univision news reveals Como tú no hay dos has been in the 10 PM EST slot. It’s the story of twin brothers who were separated at birth and come across each other by chance. Only one is injured, and the other takes over his life. It’s been an interesting one, for sure. However, it’s almost done. We’ve got about a week and a half of episodes left, which means it’s time for a new show. So, what are they bringing to the table next?

    Univision news: Looking abroad

There’s so many great shows out there. Univision usually gets their programming from Mexican company Televisa. That’s who produced Como tú no hay dos, in association with W Studios and Lemon Studios. This time, they’re going a bit outside the box.

For what’s billed as the first time, Univision will air a Brazilian production. It’s called Dulce Ambición. The show, whose title translates to Sweet ambition, sounds like gripping/crazy viewing. It’s got a long-standing family feud, fake deaths, and it also involves online influencers. But here’s the best part.

This novela, released in 2019, has a bit of a twist in the antagonist department. In this show, the lead character’s own daughter is the one who’s working against her. See, Maria da Paz Sobral Ramirez (Juliana Paes) is a humble woman who managed to make it big 20 years after a painful loss.

Her daughter, Josiane “Jô” Sobral Ramirez Matheus (Agatha Moreira) doesn’t like their humble origins. So, she eventually decides to team up with a man to steal her mother’s money. There are a couple of twists along the way, and there will apparently be a lot of family backstabbing. We think this one looks like a winner, and we hope it does well here.

    Univision News: What’s next?

If you’re currently watching the other shows in the primetime slot, be prepared. You might be getting more of your favorite show soon. Dulce Ambición will premiere at 10 PM EST on August 31st. That leaves some time to fill, seeing as how Como tú no hay dos should be done by the 10th of this month, assuming there are no interruptions for games.

With an awards show coming the 13th of August, that leaves several weeks between the two shows. We’re betting Médicos, línea de vida will be the one to get the extra time. It seems the easier option, it airs right before Como tú no hay dos, so less juggling to do.
