British royal family news has claimed that Prince Philip will make a rare public appearance this week as he steps out in public. However, fans shouldn’t be expecting this to be a regular occurrence, as it will instead be a formality as he transfers some of his powers to Camilla Parker Bowles. It has been revealed that his daughter-in-law will become the new Colonel-in-chief of the Rifles.

It isn’t expected to be a long service, with Philip set to appear from his home at Windsor Castle. Meanwhile, Camilla will be attending a ceremony that will be held at Highgrove House. It is believed that the transfer will take place on Wednesday.

British Royal Family News: Philip Handing Over Title

Philip hasn’t held the title for too long, as he only took over from The Queen in this role back in 2006. There will be a special final ceremony for Philip to enjoy as there will both be a Rifles Regiment Call and then a No More Parades call. Both of these will take place at Windsor Castle.

Camilla will also be able to take in some of the calls while she is in attendance, as she will have the Four Buglers of the Band. Also, she will also have the Rifles assembly. Both of these will be while General Sir Patrick Sanders is in attendance, as he will then refer to Camilla as his new colonel in chief.

British Royal Family News: Philip Set For Retirement

Philip has been in retirement for a number of years now, but has been known to make rare appearances. He made one of those rare showings earlier in lockdown as he posted a message of gratitude for those working in the NHS. However, due to his old age, he has been unable to see any of his grandchildren throughout the lockdown as measures have been tight to ensure that the prince doesn’t catch the virus.

During lockdown, Philip celebrated his 99th birthday, but his celebrations were mostly down virtually. There were a number of sweet images posted from Prince William and Kate Middleton, and there hasn’t yet been word about when Philip will next be able to enjoy a visit from his grandchildren. Although, he was pictured during Princess Beatrice’s wedding over the weekend.
