CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that we can’t choose our family is one of the oldest and wisest saying ‘Young and the Restless’ have heard, and it fits this episode perfectly. We all have something in our past we’re ashamed of, no matter how big or small. It’s how we deal with it that often defines us and how others view us.

In some cases, it’s easier to pretend something never happened or in the event we’re on daytime television, we hire someone to pretend to be our children. Yep, that’s the focus of this episode that comes to us all the way from March 31, 2005. Nothing like some family drama to make things interesting, right?

Gloria Abbott (Judith Chapman) has a part of her history that’s being forced into the light, thanks to Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson)’s desire to oust her from the Abbott’s lives. Because of this, Gloria decided to tell John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) the truth about her sons, and it led into a difficult conversation where she risked everything.

While she sat down for her conversation with her husband, Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) was trying to call his mother when Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) walked in. Michael stopped him from calling again, and explained that Gloria didn’t have a choice thanks to Ashley’s ultimatum. The two then expressed their opinions of what would happen with Kevin being the more optimistic as he believed the love between John and their mother would win out in the end. Of course, Michael thought he was crazy, and knowing his brother would want to do whatever he could to help their mother, he warned him not to go to John and Gloria’s house.

Previously during their discussion, John had pointed out that he met her estranged sons. Gloria informed him that those weren’t her sons, and that she had paid them to pretend to be her sons because she was afraid of what would happen if he knew the truth. John had always been a good, usually well-balanced man, so while he was upset that she had lied to him, he asked her to be honest about her sons.

She told him he already met them, and that was when Kevin arrived. Adding to the confusion, Kevin asked to speak with Gloria and John wanted to know why and then asked Kevin to leave. With Kevin’s presence forcing the issue, Gloria informed John that Kevin in one of her sons.

Talk about a fun talk, but that’s what makes these so much fun for ‘Young and the Restless’. How do you think John should’ve reacted to the news?
