British Royal Family News says that while it’s anything but official at this point, it’s safe to say that Sophie, Countess of Wessex is one member of the royal family who has managed to make the most headlines this year. Actually, make that positive headlines. As a matter of fact, there’s yet another report detailing how Prince Edward’s wife is helping to fill in the void that was left by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after their departure from the royal family this year. Here’s what you need to know.

Sophie Wessex might not be as visible as some of the other members of the royal family, but she is surely making a difference behind the scenes. Joe Little, the managing editor of Majesty Magazine, has revealed that Sophie has been garnering a lot of praise for her quiet discretion and dependability.

Calling her a royal key worker, he told People Magazine in a new interview, “She is making a difference in a very understated, very ‘Sophie’ way.” In fact, Sophie has also been helping weekly with a group of caterers and party planners to organize meals for the National Health Service (NHS) workers. “There’s no fanfare. These are private visits done in her own private time,” Peregrine Armstrong-Jones, of Bentley’s Entertainment, told the publication in a separate interview. “When she leaves our kitchens, she generally then goes on to do more projects in different hospitals.”

What’s more, many who are close to the Countess of Wessex say that she is as down-to-earth as you would expect her to be. “She was brought up by her parents and there was going to be no free ride in her family,” a friend says. “She wasn’t born to be the eldest daughter of a duke and duchess and find a marvelous marriage and polish her tiaras.”
