British royal family news has revealed that Queen Elizabeth’s official birthday was celebrated this past weekend in a unique fashion. The typical Trooping The Colour event was cancelled a few months ago due to the effects that have been left by the coronavirus pandemic. The cancellation of the event meant that the occasion went a little under the radar.

It was only the second time in the Queen’s reign that the event did not take place, which was much to the disappointment of royal fans around the world. However, fans of the royals were still given a sighting of Her Majesty, as she sat alone for the ceremony from the Welsh Guard. It was a welcome surprise for fans of the royals as it was Her Majesty’s first official appearance since lockdown was enforced in the United Kingdom.

British Royal Family News: Official Birthday Celebrated In June

The Queen celebrates her birthday twice a year. Her Majesty celebrated her 94th birthday two months ago, but the official celebrations take place every year in June. Trooping The Colour is the big event of the day, as the celebrations take place on the second Saturday of the month.

As part of the event, there is normally an honours list with new names awarded accolades such as MBE’s and Knighthoods. However, this year was an exception to that too, with Her Majesty agreeing that the people awarded the accolades would not be named until later in the year. The Queen and Boris Johnson admitted that this would be the best thing to do.

British Royal Family News: Unique Event At Windsor Castle

The event was one of the most unique of Queen Elizabeth’s reign, with the Welsh Guards performing a mini-Trooping event. There was a royal salute for Her Majesty, before marching. The performance also carefully followed the social distancing measures that are still in place in the United Kingdom.

The performance appeared to go down well with Queen Elizabeth, as she was pictured smiling and laughing with the offices around her. Soldiers revealed afterwards that there was more pressure on the event for them as there was no room for error since there were so few of them. However, members of the Welsh Guard revealed afterwards how proud the occasion was for them.
