The final of Love Island UK took place last night, with a huge £50,000 awarded to the winners. The winning couples emerged as Paige Turley and Finn Tapp. They decided to share the winning prize money. Paige and Finn held off stiff competition to be crowned winners. Luke Trotman and Siannise Fudge were the heavy favourites but were made to settle for second place.

The two final couples were not much of a surprise for viewers, as they were the only couples that were boyfriend and girlfriend. Paige and Finn made their relationship official first. Paige admitted before she went into the Love Island villa that she previously dated singer Lewis Capaldi. Meanwhile, Demi Moore and Luke Mabbott finished in third place, while Jess Gale and Ched Uzor finished in fourth.

    Final Dedicated To Caroline Flack

There was an emotional video during the final, as Laura Whitmore dedicated the final to the show’s former host Caroline Flack, who passed away while the show was on this year. The montage showed Flack’s best bits, before Whitmore admitted that the show was something that Flack ‘loved’.

The show didn’t air for two days following the heartbreaking news. The Unseen Bits show was missed out while, last Sunday’s episode also didn’t air. The show made its return on the Monday, with the show’s narrator Iain Sterling admitting that he was ‘devastated’ by the news.

Love Island To Return In Summer

The show was rumoured to be ending following this season after social media accounts admitted that it should end. However, Whitmore revealed during the final that the show would be returning in the summer, with applications now open as it makes its return back to Spain.

This was the first season that the show had been filmed in South Africa, and was the first-ever winter instalment of Love Island. The winter season’s viewing figures were down slightly as the season attracted four million viewers. Last summer’s edition attracted six million.
