Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, actress Mary Beth Evans says that she is of course taking this all in with trepidation. With everything that she’s already experienced in her life, she’s not that naïve to believe everything her ex is telling her. Of course, that won’t stop Steve from trying to explain himself to her.

The actress tells the publication, “Of course, Kayla doesn’t believe him because it’s absurd. Then he goes into detail about the things, saying that Steve was on his way back to her when his goons abducted him and put Stefano’s essence into Steve.”

Mary Beth Evans says that’s when Kayla starts to put all of the missing pieces together and realizes this was the same time that Steve signed the divorce papers without a call. In fact, she even starts to accept that maybe this might all be true, seeing how he has uncharacteristically been such a jerk to her, so to speak. But if there’s one thing that we know about Kayla Brady it’s that she will always have a soft spot for the man that she loved for the longest time – even if he does end up holding her captive. Needless to say, ‘Days of Our Lives’ fans will have to tune in to find out what happens next!
