CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers here with a quick question for anyone out there. Are Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman (Hunter King) teenagers?

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Romeo and Juliet syndrome

We at CBS ‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers love a good love story, but is it really so hard to have them act like adults in some capacity? Being in love is great and makes us feel young and free, but seeing Kyle try to talk himself out of the relationship by listing all the negatives others will bring up to Summer about him really spoke to teenage angst.

Sure, he played it like he’s concerned, but is he really? In many ways, he comes across like he’s terrified he’ll compound his mistake with Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) by making it again with Summer. Summer, of course, made excuses and claimed it was all her fault. A very noble thing that looks to match Kyle’s on the surface, but it’s just deflecting his fears with excuses. Kyle has a history of moving from one to another in an effort to help, so how long before Summer is put in a similar position again?

Add to it poor Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) walking in on them and reading them the riot act, then having to hear their teenage-like excuses, “Um, gee-wiz, Pa. We won’t make the same mistakes again. Honest.” Of course they won’t. They’ll be too busy making excuses as to why their previous ones happened to find the time. But when a minute of boredom hits…

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: The clock is ticking

We all know Kyle will do something stupid at some point in the coming months. The question is how long, and how many pieces will he be in when Jack gets finished with him. Of course, there’s the possibility we won’t have to wait long for this to happen. As soon as Kyle sees Lola and Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) together, he’ll probably flip and realize everything was because of him. He’ll go into it as the white knight, and come out of it beaten and bruised after Lola rips into him for being so juvenile and not wanting to fight for her previously.

This will, assuming it happens, open up a deeper and more emotional storyline that could see Kyle and Summer mature far more than they have. It’ll put them into various positions where they’ll have to figure things out that won’t involve them running away or pretending they don’t exist. If this angle is the way Y&R goes, it’ll be a fun one to see unfold. Until then, it’s teenage love all over again. But never fear, CBS The ‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers will be here covering it every step of the way.
