Kate Middleton stepped out yesterday for St. Patrick’s Day with the Irish Guards. The Princess of Wales was stylishly dressed in a dark green ensemble, including an Alexander McQueen coat with a matching Gina Foster Millinery hat.
Kate Marked Her First Solo St. Patrick’s Day Parade as Colonel of the Guards In 2025
The Irish Guards’ annual St. Patrick’s Day parade was held in Britain at Mons Barracks on Tuesday, March 18th. She also wore a gold Shamrock brooch by Cartier, which was loaned to her by the Irish Guards.
Kate accessorized with Emerald and diamond earrings and wore her chestnut brown hair slicked back in a braided updo.
Her flawless look was thought to be inspired by “Celtic style” and a “nod to “Irish heritage,” according to People magazine. She completed the look with black gloves, a scarf, and a pair of high-heeled boots.
Last year, Princess Catherine marked her first solo St. Patrick’s Day event as Colonel of the Irish Guards. Kate has attended the parade with Prince William since 2012.
William previously held the title of Colonel of the Irish Guards until Kate was appointed in 2023. At this year’s event, Kate met with Lance Sergeant Mills, along with his adorable three-year-old daughter, Vienna, who was enthralled to meet the Princess.
Vienna giggled and ran off as another three-year-old girl, Mila, the daughter of Sergeant English, sweetly came over to Kate, as the Princess knelt by her side and asked, “Are you afraid of doing a roly poly?”
Kate complimented the youngster on her green dress. Royal fans took to social media to praise the future Queen for her kindness and care for the children.
The Princess Gave Sprigs of Shamrock to the Adorable Mascot, Turlough Mor, an Irish Wolfhound Pup
Princess Catherine gave sprigs of shamrock to the Officers and Guardsmen, as well as their adorable mascot, an Irish Wolfhound named Turlough Mor, otherwise known as Seamus.
The precious pup is known for participating in high-profile royal events, including the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and King Charles’s coronation.
Seamus also serves as the 17th Residential Mascot of the Irish Guards. Kate lovingly pinned a shamrock on his little red coat.
The annual parade concluded with a royal salute from the Princess, as the guardsmen marched past. Kate spoke with the troops and their families in the Sergeant’s Mess following the event.
She also spoke with the children about sports and asked them questions about how often they played. The Irish Guards were established in April 1900 by order of Queen Victoria.
They were founded to recognize the bravery and courage of the Irish regiments during the Second Boer War in South Africa. The Irish Guards are also known as “the Micks,” and they have a long-standing role in guarding the royal family.
The nickname, “The Micks,” has been used for generations. Each year, festive shamrocks are given to the Irish Guards and those who serve in the Armed Forces.
Prince William wore the uniform of the Irish Guards on his wedding day to Princess Catherine in April 2011.
After the St. Patrick’s Day parade, Kate joined the soldiers and their families for a toast with Guinness beer. Kate hasn’t imbibe alcohol too often ever since her cancer diagnosis and treatment in 2024. Fortunately, Kate has been in remission since January 2025.
