‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers wonder whether Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) got what she deserved or if she’s simply a victim of Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Portia’s Affair With Isaiah Was Exposed In Court
Portia’s affair with Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) was recently exposed while she was on the witness stand at Willow Cain’s (Katelyn MacMullen) trial.
Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) probed Portia to make her look guilty of shooting Drew until Portia finally broke down on the stand and admitted she was with Isaiah at the Metro Court Hotel the night that Drew was shot.
The fans’ general consensus was that Portia’s downfall was a long time coming. However, there is another perspective some viewers have offered that we can understand.
It was almost uncomfortable to watch Portia squirming and begging Alexis not to continue her line of questioning.
While it’s certainly Alexis’s job to suggest that there may be other suspects the PCPD overlooked, it seemed more like she was trying to protect her daughter, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), than herself.
While Portia is no angel, it was actually challenging to see Portia publicly humiliated by the truth coming out the way that it did.
We really don’t think Portia was going to alter the paternity test to make Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) the father, or to deceive anyone, this time.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Portia Has a History of Lying
Portia has a history of lying about Trina’s paternity for decades, but she told Isaiah that she learned her lesson from the first mistake she made a long time ago.
Plus, Portia could potentially lose her position as Chief of Staff at GH. Yes, what Portia did with Heather Webber’s (Alley Mills) cobalt test results was unacceptable, but she was trying to protect Trina.
However, regarding Portia’s affair with Isaiah, it’s understandable that she turned to him for comfort. It’s always been clear that Curtis still loves his ex-wife, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper).
It seems hypocritical of Curtis to blame Portia entirely. He’s been carrying on an emotional affair with Jordan for months. Also, if Portia ends up behind bars, she’ll likely have to give birth in prison, which is far from ideal.
Others may argue that Portia’s pattern of lies and deception contributed to her karma in court. She has a habit of manipulating situations to her advantage, and her affair with Isaiah may have been no different.
Portia was entirely on board with trying to make her marriage work. However, Curtis’s feelings for Jordan would likely have led to their divorce anyway.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Portia Covered Up Drew’s Blackmail
The two of them share a daughter, Trina. Yet, it was never really enough for them to have a healthy, successful marriage.
Portia’s actions may have been questionable, but when it comes to Drew Cain, we’re team Portia all the way. The world’s sleaziest Congressman was blackmailing her, and she did what she had to do.
Portia covered up Drew’s blackmail to protect her family. Heather Webber killed innocent people. She killed Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) and was thought to have murdered Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud).
There were others she put in harm’s way, including Trina. It stands to reason that Portia’s decision to risk her career changing Heather’s test results. While unethical and morally ambiguous, it stemmed from love and concern for her daughter.
Portia was waiting for the paternity test to reveal her secret. Still, once Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) betrayed her, she wasn’t given the opportunity to set things right with Curtis or Isaiah or prove to Curtis and Trina that she had learned from her past mistakes.
