King Charles has invited President Trump to visit the royal family’s private residence, Balmoral, as they are planning a Second State visit to the U.K.
King Charles sent a letter extending a warm invitation to Trump, delivered by Sir Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister, and he graciously accepted.
The Opportunity Is A Significant Honor For Trump
Trump displayed the letter to reporters in the Oval Office. His Majesty also suggested that Trump join him at Dumfries House to plan his historic Second State visit to the U.K.
“As you will know, this is unprecedented by a U.S. president,”
The King wrote. The letter was signed by hand,
“Your Most Sincerely, Charles.”
The opportunity is a significant honor for the president, who was very fond of the late Queen Elizabeth II. Trump has also described the King as a “beautiful man.”
Balmoral is at the heart of the royal family, as it is where the Queen spent the final weeks of her life. The invitation is a great honor for the president. Trump also has two golf resorts in the Scottish Highlands.
This is the first time an elected politician has received an invitation for a second state visit. The only other U.S. president to stay at Balmoral was Dwight D. Eisenhower in the summer of 1959.
It is also possible that Elon Musk, Trump’s senior advisor, could accompany Trump to the U.K.
The President has long claimed that he has a wonderful relationship with the royal family, especially the Queen. Trump’s first state visit was in 2019 when Queen Elizabeth was monarch.
Trump’s response to the letter was,
“The answer is yes. On behalf of our wonderful First Lady, Melania, and myself, the answer is yes. And we look forward to being there and honoring the King and honoring your country.”
King Charles Must Work Around Conflicting Interests And Controversy
There have been some questions as to whether the spat that took place on Friday, February 28th, between President Trump and Ukraine’s President Zelensky.
The royal family is likely troubled by the events that took place in the Oval Office on Friday. King Charles is set to meet Zelensky at Sandringham on Sunday as a show of royal support.
The King is very much on Zelensky and the country of Ukraine’s side in defending its territory from Vladimir Putin. Charles has famously compared Putin to Adolf Hitler.
Another controversy the King is entering into is that many Canadians are very upset with him for extending an official invitation to Trump. The U.S. President has been “posturing” to turn Canada into the 51st state.
He has also derogatorily referred to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “Governor Trudeau” and wants to charge Canadians twenty-five percent tariffs on all products being imported from Canada.
Although Trump has always boasted about his special bond with Queen Elizabeth, in royal author Craig Brown’s book, “A Voyage Around the Queen,” Brown claimed that Her Majesty found Trump “very rude.”
When Trump discovered the author wrote this claim about him, he spoke with the Daily Mail and said,
“I heard I was her favorite president, and you’ve heard that too. She would say that to a lot of people.”
