While Stefano took a more obvious approach by sending her flowers and leaving a gift in her purse, Gina was a bit more subtle. Well, as subtle as this train wreck of a villain can be. She made up an excuse to move in with John while Marlena was out of town. Sure, she managed to get closer to him. But this was never gonna fly, and she soon faced disappointment when John didn’t reciprocate the feelings “Hope Brady” (Alfonso) admitted to. Of course, he sent her packing fast after that. And both she and Stefano were no closer to their goal than before.

These determined bad guys don’t let little things like a deep commitment (not to mention a deep disgust for one party) get in their way. On Wednesday, January 15th Princess Gina jokingly suggested offing Marlena. She wanted to get his attention. However, this inspired a new idea.
On the Thursday, January 16th episode, they set a new plan into motion. As “Steve Johnson” (Nichols), Stefano convinced John to travel to Europe, where “Hope” and “Steve” claim Stefano is now hiding. ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers indicate this wasn’t easy. Jarlena just doesn’t want to be apart, but John finally agreed and she stayed behind for the greater good. So, what’s the game?

Future spoilers indicate they plan to fake John and Marlena’s deaths. They alluded to as much during the past couple of episodes. So, we expect some tragic news to arrive in Salem sooner rather than later. We seriously can’t with this angle.
First off, we can’t stress enough how pathetic it makes these villains to be obsessing about people who don’t want them. It reeks of desperation and stupid. Even if John and Marlena believe the other to be dead, what are they going to do? Pretend to be “Hope” and “Steve” forever, and “comfort” them in the aftermath? There’s no way Jarlena would fall for either one. We just don’t see it. It’s also a massive hoax to try pulling off indefinitely, and these two are not up to the task. They’re too impulsive and careless. It might be time for this pair to call it quits. We’re sure there’d be far better things for them to do.
