Kate Middleton’s youngest son, Prince Louis, turned six years old today. She took the perfect photo of him with a handsome, toothy grin outdoors at their Adelaide Cottage, their home in Windsor.
Prince William and Kate broke royal tradition and shared the photo of Prince Louis this afternoon rather than at midnight when most royal birthday portraits are revealed. It was said that the photo’s late release was due to the family’s difficult time, which is understandable.
Louis’s Birthday Picture Was Not Altered in Any Way
Princess Catherine shared her cancer diagnosis with the world on March 22nd. She had planned abdominal surgery in January, and tests revealed that she had an undisclosed form of cancer.
Kate did not share the news until the media started hounding her, and conspiracy theories were all over the internet.
She also wanted some time to explain everything to her children appropriately and understandably without any interference.
She is currently undergoing treatment for the illness. The caption for the picture said,
“Happy 6th Birthday, Prince Louis! Thank you for all the kind wishes today.”
The picture was not edited or doctored in any way. Royal fans worldwide noted how grown-up Louis appeared in the photo, and the gap in his lower teeth let everyone know that Louis had indeed had a visit from the tooth fairy.
Wales releases a new photo each year to mark children’s birthdays. Last year, they showed a picture of Prince Louis being pushed around in a wheelbarrow. It was great fun!
In previous years, Kate took pictures of Louis on his birthday. For Louis’s fourth birthday, she took a photo of him at Norfolk Beach. His third birthday photo was of him riding his bike. Kate loves to dabble in photography, and from the looks of Louis’s birthday photo, she does a great job!

The Photo of Prince Louis Comes After Controversy Over Edited Mother’s Day Photo
People praised the photo for being completely natural and unedited. This comes after Mother’s Day in March, when royal fans were in attack mode against Kate for doctoring a photo of herself with her children, Princes Louis, George, and Princess Charlotte.
It was the first official photo released after Kate had her abdominal surgery. News outlets refused to show the picture, as agencies “killed” the photo over very insignificant details in the image.
Kate was trying to show everyone she was okay after much speculation over the Princess’s absence from public life.
News outlets claimed that “upon closer inspection, it did not meet the agencies’ photo standards.” Kate admitted to doctoring the photo, but it shouldn’t have been made into this big deal to the point where people wondered if they could trust the royal family.
The birthday pic of Louis is lovely, and hopefully, Kate, Willliam, and their children have had the time and freedom they need to come to terms with Kate’s diagnosis and be together as a family.
