Prince William has come back to his royal duties for the first time since Kate Middleton’s cancer announcement.
The Prince Helped Cook At Surplus To Supper
Prince William was in good spirits as he arrived at Surplus to Supper, a food redistribution charity in Sunbury on Thames, Surrey.
He chatted with the volunteer staff and learned how surplus food is from the local area, where workers organize, re-package, and distribute to community organizations.
William lent a helping hand to the staff, put on an apron, and cooked in the kitchen. Charity volunteer Rachel Candappa handed him two get-well cards to give to Princess Catherine.
Her message said,
“The nation’s hearts were broken when you very courageously went on the global stage on your own to talk about your personal health issues. With no trimmings or flowerings around issues, you gave the words to assure anyone who cares to listen that you will fight this dreadful disease. You must have had a lot of steel to hold it together.”
Candappa was awestruck and commented on how kind and down-to-earth he was. She got to shake his hand and jokingly said,
“I’m never washing my hand again!”
The Prince was very grateful and thanked her for the cards. He was in a jovial mood and even cracked a couple of jokes,
“You’ve got some spaghetti hoops? I’ve got children; I love spaghetti hoops.”
William was handed a large knife and joked that he didn’t want to slice off his fingers. He chopped celery to help prepare bolognese sauce. The Prince stirred the pot cheerfully and enjoyed playing chef. He also assisted by loading food trucks and cleaning up.
William Has Been Caring For Kate And His Children
He also sorted out soaps, hand wash, and make-up. He was tickled to see a rose collagen mist spray. These were items tossed out by people or donated, and he couldn’t believe how much we throw away as a society.
William also quietly donated pasta, potatoes, and canned soup to the charity.
One fan hoped to meet William outside the charity doors and wanted to give their regards and well-wishes. She aimed to support William on his first engagement since Kate’s diagnosis.
The Prince of Wales took a break from his royal duties to care for Kate and their children, Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte.
His last public engagement before this was on March 19th, when he attended an event to help people without homes in Sheffield.
Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world on March 22nd, almost a month ago. The doctors discovered her cancer during testing after a planned abdominal surgery she had in January.
Her cancer diagnosis was a shock to everyone, and people around the globe united to send her get-well wishes and positive thoughts and prayers.
When she shared the news with the world, Kate said that her family needed time, space, and privacy to heal.
“It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and reassure them that I’m going to be okay.”
The Princess has taken time off from her royal duties to undergo cancer treatment and is said to be doing well.
Our Hearts and best wishes to Prince William, Princess Catherine, and their family.
