‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (B&B) spoilers document that a terminal illness and experimental surgery don’t create confidence. But John Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) used the available information based on Eric Forrester’s (John McCook) revealed blood condition.
Thankfully, Finn worked for weeks researching Eric’s diagnosis. He contacted doctors and was prepared to act when McCook’s character was rushed to the University Hospital in Los Angeles, California.
One issue was stressed to Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and gathered family members. There were no guarantees of success with the cell transplant surgery, and even if successful, Eric’s recovery could be challenging.

Viewers learned that Eric designated Ridge as the person who would make medical decisions in the event he was incapacitated. That legal choice was intended to prevent groupthink decision-making.
But based on the frantic nature of the situation at the hospital, it was understandable that Ridge defaulted to his father’s recent comments. Eric refused hospitalization in recent weeks and also rejected treatment.
Both factors made Ridge believe Eric would not want Finn to try an experimental treatment. But then, some eye movement was immediately seen after Ridge told Finn to turn the machines off. So, Kaye’s character relented as all gathered assumed Eric was sending a message not to let him die.

A remarkably satisfying sequence played out after Eric’s life appeared to be saved in surgery. He envisioned heaven and saw Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) sitting on his bed.
Eric’s longtime wife, the mother of some of his children, including Ridge, and the co-founder of Forrester Creations, was recently referenced. Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) had a warm-hearted conversation with Eric about Stephanie before they hosted the big party at the mansion that he saw as a sendoff.
However, the arguably ambiguous message Stephanie offered to Eric implied that he could go with her to the other dimension or remain in LA. Viewers will soon see if further otherworldly visits follow.

Certainly, it feels like Eric will survive and endure a period of recovery. It would be terrific if Flannery, a cast icon like McCook, appears additional times.
Assuming Eric does not get to heaven in the coming days, the next part of this storyline could focus on a lengthy recovery period. That would provide many soapy opportunities for all the great actors involved, most especially McCook on B&B.
