Pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched through downtown Syracuse last week, converging outside the Landmark Theatre to protest Jerry Seinfeld’s stand-up show. The protesters accused the comedian of being “complicit in genocide” due to his support for Israel.
The demonstration, reported by The Daily Orange, an independent student newspaper at Syracuse University, called for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas and an end to all U.S. aid to Israel.
Additionally, the protesters expressed condemnation for House lawmakers who passed a resolution last week declaring anti-Zionism as antisemitism.
“As people entered Landmark Theater for Seinfeld’s show, protestors stood outside. Police placed themselves between the two groups, forming a pathway for those looking to get inside the building while protestors chanted that Seinfeld was ‘complicit in genocide,’” wrote The Daily Orange.

Protesters, advocating for the Biden administration to withdraw financial support to Israel, gathered outside the theater where comedian Jerry Seinfeld performed on Friday. They criticized Seinfeld for his support of the nation.
Notably, Seinfeld, along with several other Hollywood figures, had condemned colleagues for their reluctance to denounce Hamas’ attacks on Israel and the subsequent increase in antisemitic incidents.
On Instagram, Seinfeld supported Israel saying, “I lived and worked on a Kibbutz in Israel when I was 16 and I have loved our Jewish homeland ever since. My heart is breaking from these attacks and atrrocities.
But we are also a very strong people in our hearts and minds. We believe in justice, freedom and equality. We survive and flourish no matter what. I will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people.”
In an open letter to the Writers Guild of America (WGA), Seinfeld and a number of other prominent figures criticized the organization for being the only significant Hollywood union that at the time had not issued a statement regarding the Hamas attack on Israel.
