The creators of the popular show planned to reunite Jamie Lynn and her sister, Britney Spears. However, the plan goes horribly awry.
Jamie Lynn was unceremoniously cut from Dancing with the Stars last week. Unfortunately, she received the lowest combined scores on Tuesday night.
The producers thought they would have an on-air opportunity by inviting Britney on the show. During Latin week, Jamie Lynn and her pro dance partner Alan Bersten were eliminated.
Jamie Lynn Eliminated from Dancing with the Stars
Jamie Lynn was given a score of 16 for the little cha-cha dance she performed. She was the second celebrity to be booted off the competition.
They planned to have Britney on the show and, in exchange, let her promote her new book, “The Woman in Me.” They hoped for a genuine on-air reconciliation between the estranged sisters.
The producers were obviously looking for a hefty boost in the ratings. They thought it would be an incredible TV moment they could milk for all it was worth.
Dancing with the Stars has always championed Britney’s music and has supported the pop princess through her many ups and downs.
They said,
“The show has had Britney night in the past, and they are enamored with her like the rest of the world. They thought getting her sister or mom cast would lead to a chance to get Britney on the show or at least do a taped message or talk about the show.”
Either way, it would have been a shot in the dark. We all know that probably the only reason the show invited Jamie Lynn to participate was that she is Britney Spears’s sister.
They saw a significant opportunity to cash in on the sibling rivalry. The producers wanted it to look like they were doing something good.
Britney’s Mom the Next to Be on the Show?
They went on to say,
“There are so many emotional stories that come with the contestants and their seasons that if there were even a chance to get Britney on the show and show a united front with her family or a chance to reconcile past issues, it would be the best case scenario.”
The producers hinted that they were fishing for publicity by saying that even though it didn’t work out, Britney’s mom may be following in the line of Spears women to be on Dancing with the Stars.
Britney and Jamie Lynn have been estranged ever since their Father, Jamie, moved in with Jamie Lynn. Jamie has been an alcoholic for years. Recently, he failed a stint in rehab, only to end up living with Jamie.
Britney sees it as a betrayal that Jamie Lynn would have her Father as a guest in her family’s home in Louisiana. She feels that her Father is responsible for the falling out she had with her two sons.
Britney and Jamie Lynn’s rift is due to so many complicated reasons.
Ms. Spears has reportedly gone off for a vacation to a private island in French Polynesia, where she will not have to have contact with anyone.
