British Royal News is asking if Meghan Markle is faking her friendships with Hollywood A-stars? That’s what some royal critics believe as there is a new report that says the Duchess of Sussex might have purposely invited a handful of A-list stars to her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, knowing that they would have her back. Here’s what you need to know.
According to the Daily Mail, royal biographer Andrew Morton puts it this way, “Meghan is smart and she showed her purpose at her wedding by the people she invited. She invited people she didn’t know well – Oprah, George and Amal Clooney the big Hollywood hitters. It was a clever move, because they are the ones who have stood up for her when she has been attacked.”

And apparently, this has worked to Meghan Markle’s benefit as even Oprah has defended the Duchess of Sussex from her critics by showing her support. Earlier this year when it was noted that Meghan Markle refused to pose on the steps of the hospital only hours after giving birth to her son, Archie Harrison, a lot of critics lashed out at her for not following a royal tradition. Oprah, meanwhile, defended and applauded Meghan for doing what she thought was right and putting her and her baby’s own needs first. And she meant what she said, too.
Oprah told Entertainment Tonight, “To be able to stand up and say this is what I really want for my baby and my family and now I’m going to do it a different way when it’s been done that way for a thousand years? I’m just so proud of her. Who is ready to walk out and stand before the world and put that face on, you know, a day after you’ve had a baby?” Of course, whether or not George Clooney, Oprah, and the rest of the A-list stars who have spoken in support of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are really friends with them is anyone’s guess. So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about Andrew Morton’s observations. What do you think?
