A new poll has revealed that Prince Harry’s candid revelations have damaged the entire Royal Family’s image in the public’s perception.
Harry’s Revelations Have Damaged The Firm’s Popularity-Says Latest Poll
According to a recent Ipsos poll, the popularity of Harry and Meghan Markle has decreased significantly after the release of the Duke’s memoir, Spare, and his controversial statements about the Royal Family.
However, the poll also indicates that the fallout has had a negative impact on the public’s perception of all senior members of the Royal Family.
Prince William, the Prince of Wales, is still the most favored member among the royals, but his popularity has declined by 10 percent since December and now stands at 59 percent.
In his memoir, Harry disclosed some animosity between himself and his elder brother, alleging that William had engaged in a physical altercation with him during an intense argument.
And according to The Telegraph, Princess Anne, who is the second most popular royal, and Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, closely follow William in the popularity rankings.
However, their popularity ratings have decreased by 11 points since December. The poll further adds that the Royal Family’s popularity has dropped by 6 points since the beginning of the year, resulting in an approval rating of 47%, the lowest recorded in the past 12 months.
The firm has a relatively positive reputation, although not significantly so, as per the survey which shows that 26% of adults have an unfavorable opinion and 25% have a neutral stance towards the firm.
The older demographic, particularly individuals aged 35 to 54 and 55 to 75, are more likely to view the firm positively, with 47% and 59% respectively reporting a position opinion.
Only a minority of 18 to 34-year-olds, specifically 33%, support the idea, while 31% hold a neutral stance. The social media response was much the same.
Large numbers of people made it clear that since the passing of the late Queen Elizabeth II, the firm was no longer the same institution.
One person wrote: “It’s clearly beginning to dawn on some, now that Queen Elizabeth has gone; for many Brits much of their forbearance of the monarchy has gone with her.”
While another person stated: “That huge loyalty and respect commended by QEII is gone. It’s not transferable to Charlie and his doxy.”
