Ashley, aged 38, who had a short-term connection with Manson in the year 2010, handed in legitimate court paperwork earlier in this month to withdraw all of her assertions regarding the questionable artist.

Wood, 35, was accused by her of trying to induce her to report false allegations of rape and assault against Manson. The legal papers also asserted that Smithline had been pressured by her legal team to make a public statement regarding her purported ordeal.

Nevertheless, Wood has filed a petition with the court which denies these allegations and offers proof that Smithline was coerced by the lawyers of Manson to withdraw her legal action and to say that she fabricated the whole thing.

In the court report, Evans presented a prolonged record of communications, including an audio message Smithline apparently sent to a friend, where she voiced her worries that Manson’s counsel was targeting her.

Evans displayed screenshots of remarks on Instagram from as far back as 2019, as well as messages from conversations allegedly exchanged with Ashley about Manson. One was alleged to have said the following: “[I]t takes a special kind of person to threaten rape and abuse victims with rape and abuse. It’s been relentless.”

The response on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people called out Wood on the grounds that he was dragging Ashely into a contentious case, given that she had withdrawn her claims. Meanwhile, others sympathized with Wood since Ashley’s statements would hurt her revelations.

One person wrote: “I wish Ashley Morgan Smithline never gave in. It will only get worse. Especially when she starts to feel guilty for all the extra abuse Evan Rachel Wood is getting because of it.”
