In 2022, the celebrity received criticism after stating that the Great American Family, the TV channel she moved to after departing Hallmark Channel, would keep its focus on projects that ensure traditional marriage at its center.

Bure ended up receiving a lot of backlash on the basis that her comments were seen as attacking same-sex marriages. This was most notably seen when JoJo Siwa, who identifies as being part of the LGBTQ community, came out in no uncertain terms to label Bure’s comments as ‘rude’.

Things had also not been helped prior to this, as Siwa had referred to Bure as the ‘rudest celebrity’ she had ever met. With that being said, Bure opened up on the pressures caused by the prospect of getting canceled. In her comments, she said: “Cancel culture is real, and it’s difficult, and it’s hard.

“But it’s important that we speak truth in love, ’cause, listen, nobody’s gonna change, nobody’s gonna listen to you when it comes out angry, when it comes out in a harsh way, but it’s important that we don’t back down.”

The social media response was very positive towards Bure. A certain subset of people defended her right to freedom of speech, which meant she had the right to say things that could offend people. Meanwhile, others endorsed her Christian values which had to be defended.

One person wrote: “I love Candace Cameron Bure.  She is brave,” while another person stated: “I don’t agree with her opinion all the time but she has allowed hers just like everybody else.”

It is fair to say that Candace will continue to stand her ground, regardless of what others may have to say about it all. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this?
