Camilla Parker Bowles is making history, but perhaps not the kind of history that a lot of people would expect. It’s been noted that King Charles’ wife will be the first divorced consort in British Royal History. Here’s what you need to know.
Angela Levin, who has written an autobiography on Camilla Parker Bowles, pointed it out on Twitter that history will be made during King Charles III’s Coronation in May. She wrote, “Camilla will be the first Consort crowned since 1937 for nearly a century and the first divorced Consort ever. In 1953 Prince Philip, who was a consort, chose to kneel before Queen Elizabeth. It will be a wonderful three days celebration.”

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for both royal fans and critics alike to weigh in on the matter. Some commented with, “Is she the first publicly acknowledged adulterous queen consort responsible for using a 19-year girl to fulfill the role the RF judged she was unfit for due to her ‘past’ so she could continue as Charles mistress and then wife only due to her untimely death?” along with, “And yet his uncle had to abdicate because he wanted to marry a divorcee. They change the rules to please themselves. Who’s paying for the 3-day event, just asking?”
Another critic wrote, “Are you for real? A wonderful three days? There are people in this Country who cannot afford to eat or heat. There are children going hungry and cold every single day! It’s absolutely abhorrent but hey an old slapper and a old man celebrating their benefit.”
There was this comment as well, “It’s amazing how every rule PROTOCOL was changed to accommodate her, fancy having to Curtsy to her. Grotesque example of lavish spending at a time when many people cannot afford to heat their homes or afford to eat. The royals again are hugely out of touch with the general population, they are no longer needed.”
