Paul Burrell responded to the critique from Prince Harry against him by asserting that he doesn’t recognise the person he has become.
Paul Burrell Blasts Prince Harry After The Duke Claimed He Exploited Princess Diana’s Death For Money-‘An Angry, Petulant, Privileged Prince’
In his recently published book Spare, the Duke of Sussex had suggested that Burrell was exploiting the death of Princess Diana for monetary gain when he released ‘A Royal Duty’ in 2001, which was packed with personal secrets.
But that has not gone down well with Burrell, who has had a lot to say on the matter. In his comments, Burrell said: “I first met him in his mummy’s tummy. I don’t recognise the young man I see today.
“That’s not the boy I knew. What I see now is an angry, petulant, privileged prince who is constantly blaming other people and not taking accountability on his part.” Burrell had worked as a butler for Princess Diana’s until her passing in 1997.
In and amongst this, Burrell remarked that the Duke of Sussex has altered drastically and that his mother would be horrified. In 2001, when Mr Burrell brought out his book, Prince Harry and Prince William labeled it as a breach of trust.
In his autobiography Spare, Harry recounts how he heard about the book while he was in Australia at the age of 19 in 2003 after he had finished Eton. And yet, Burrell continued to speak out against Harry.
His following comments confirmed as much: “She would be angry at these personal, vindictive revelations which don’t just undermine Harry, but his country, his family, the institution – which his mother was very proud of – and his late grandmother’s legacy.”
Nevertheless, the social media response towards Harry was condemnatory. This was on the grounds that people accused the Duke of Sussex of also exploiting things for money. One person wrote: “One could say that Harry is doing the exact same thing he’s accused PB of.”
