Lizzo clapped back against people who body shamed her with a video posted on Twitter.
Lizzo Slams Body Shamers-‘The Discourse Around Bodies Is Officially Tired’
The 34-year-old singer donned a two-piece swimsuit while standing on the pristine white sands of a tropical location, and expressed her thoughts on those who criticized her body size. In her comments, she said: “The discourse around bodies is officially tired.
“I have seen comments go from “oh my gosh I liked you when you were thick why did you lose weight?” to “oh my God why did you get a BBO [Brazilian Butt Lift] I liked your body before.”
The vocal artist, who has caused a stir with their candid views on physical self-acceptance in the recent past, has remained undaunted when it comes to expressing confidence in their own body.
In a discussion with People, Lizzo stated she considered herself to be a “body icon” and further reinforced their mission to promote a reasonable level of body confidence instead of a difficult-to-achieve concept of beauty for women.
In the past, the artist has been heavily criticised for supposedly endorsing obesity and not considering health, as she states the body positivity movement has become money-oriented.
In some prior comments at the time, Lizzo remarked: “What I’m doing is stepping into my confidence and my power to create my own beauty standard. And one day that will just be the standard.”
The fans on social media called out Lizzo over what she had to say. A certain subset of people were of the view that she was not being honest with her remarks. And in the process of doing so, the comments were very brutal indeed.
One person wrote: “BS. If Lizzo could magically transform into a Kendall Jenner body overnight, she’d do it.” It is fair to say that Lizzo will continue to do what she thinks is best regardless of what others have to say.
