An ex-royal assistant who lodged a grievance regarding bullying by the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, was awarded for his contribution to the monarchy in the New Year Honours.

After spending seven years employed by Prince Harry, Meghan and then later Prince William and Kate Middleton, Jason Knauf has been appointed to the rank of Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (RVO). His work with the Royal Family culminated in him serving as the head of the Royal Foundation.

Throughout his tenure, Mr Knauf was responsible for initiating the Foundation’s Earthshot Prize, William’s expansive £50 million program. This organization, which is now a separate charity, rewards innovations, concepts and technologies that work towards healing the planet.

When he was employed as the communication secretary for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, he sent an email to William’s then-private secretary to express his worries concerning Meghan, seemingly aiming to prompt Buckingham Palace to do more for their personnel.

In the past, the legal representatives of the Duchess have vigorously denied the assertion. Awards in the Royal Victorian Order, though, are given by the King without any input from the Prime Minister to people who have provided service to the King or the Royal Family in a private capacity.

With that being said, the fans on social media had a lot to say about the matter. Large numbers of people felt this came across as rewarding someone who had painted Meghan in a negative light.

One person wrote: “So Jason is getting his payoff by Will n Charlie giving him an award for going against Meg. Royal family looks worse everyday,” while another person stated: “He is getting his reward. Don’t limit his services to just accusing Meghan of bullying.

“He uninvited & unnecessarily tried to help the Daily Mail defeat her. And when Harry and Meghan speak of planting and leaking. Well…. Who could they be speaking of than this man??”
