On Christmas Day, Prince Andrew offered an odd suggestion to an individual gathered at the Sandringham estate; he recommended that she place a newspaper beneath their feet for insulation.

The Duke of York accompanied the leading royals while people were gathered along the route close to the St Mary Magdalene Church for the customary Christmas Day ceremony on the Norfolk property.
Some viewed Andrew’s invitation as a potential sign of reconciliation towards the disgraced member of the firm. And yet, things went rather bizarrely. Footage revealed the member of the Royal Family interacting with people and inquiring of a female if her feet were chilly.
When the person in response stated that she was ‘freezing,’ Andrew replied with the following bizarre remarks: “Did you know the trick is to bring a newspaper? Stand on a newspaper and you insulate your feet.” The woman took the advice in good stead by thanking Andrew as the interaction came to an end.
Much in the same way, a bystander who happened to see the whole thing play out was also left bemused. This was due to the fact that the conversation, as well as the advice, came out of nowhere.
After all, it was Christmas day. The local person’s following comments confirmed as much: “The whole thing was really odd. I don’t imagine the woman will be testing his theory anytime soon.”
The social media response was one of outrage. Large numbers of people made it clear that Andrew should not have been interacting with members of the public in light of his recent sexual assault scandal concerning Virginia Giuffre.
One person wrote: “Stand on newspaper. Why is he being paraded for social interactions? This out of touch creeper is not supposed to be doing public duties anymore.” It is fair to say that this was not Andrew’s finest moment at all.
