Outraged spectators are calling for Whoopi Goldberg’s termination from ABC after the The View host once again expressed her opinion that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race in a conversation.
Calls For Whoopi Goldberg To Be Cancelled Grow Following Her Controversial Holocaust Comments
Goldberg caused outrage earlier in the year when she stated on air that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race. After she apologised, ABC chose to suspend her for two weeks instead of letting her go, which deeply angered employees at the network.
And yet, in a discussion with The Times of London, she reiterated her remarks, declaring: “They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision.”
Her comments generated a lot of backlash from those who held the Jewish community close to them. And given that Whoopi had already caused controversy with her initial comments, people could not understand why she would decide to risk doing this again by repeating those comments.
The Times of Israel labeled her comments as incendiary’. Meanwhile, those who had survived the Holocaust were also outraged. One such survivor went on to state the following: “Whoopi Goldberg continues to use the Holocaust as her punching bag.
“We told her that her comments harm us and she simply doesn’t care. I survived the Nazis and the Holocaust, so I’ll be damned if I let a comedy has-been, peddling a fake Jewish name get the better of me.”
Meanwhile, Eve Barlow, a journalist of Jewish origin remarked: “Can someone tell Whoopi Goldberg that you can’t be canceled for anti-Semitism while still being given a platform on mainstream media? Sincerely – a Jew who has been canceled.”
Time will tell if there are going to be any further ramifications, but based on what we have seen so far, things are not looking good for Whoopi. That is why she will be hoping this dies down very quickly.
