Foot movements observed in a video of Russian President Vladimir Putin meeting with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev have provoked speculation that Putin may have Parkinson’s disease.
Video Fuels Rumours That President Vladimir Putin May Have Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson’s disease is an illness that impacts the brain to the point where the person can suffer from shaking, tremors, and stiffness over a progressive period of time. A close-up of Putin’s wiggling toes and uncontrollable leg spasms during a press conference in Moscow implied that he could have Parkinson’s disease.
He was also apparently seen gripping his right arm- after he was photographed hobbling with his right arm limp by his side months earlier. There are no problems with their leader, Kremlin officials have always maintained.
Aside from the potential health concerns, President Tokayev has made it clear that he is in favour of seeing the Russian-Ukrainian crisis come to an end as soon as possible. And with Kazakhstan in the region, the last thing the leader needs is his country being dragged in by way of extension.
In his comments on the matter, Tokayev remarked: “We must not allow the fraternal Russian and Ukrainian people to part ways for tens or hundreds of years with mutual unhealed grievances. [We need a] joint collective search for a formula for peace.”
The social media response was much the same. A certain subset of people were of the view that this was evidence which pointed towards the Russian leader suffering from some type of illness.
And in the process, they felt that things were looking very bleak for him. One person wrote: “These pictures seem to confirm both the rumors of Putin’s Parkinson’s, gripping the chair to prevent shaking.
“As well as his cancer diagnosis, whatever it is. The hyperpigmentation on his face is a symptom of chemo & the steroids explain his moon face.” We will have to see how this will all play out moving forward.
