The pair’s relationship was rocky ever since its inception. After having gotten engaged on the show during the finale of season 19, Eric faced major controversy when a photo of him wearing blackface makeup resurfaced on social media. While he would go on to apologise for his behaviour, the fact of the matter is that things did not get any easier from there.
Eric’s ex-girlfriend, Amanda Kaylor, shared some messages showing that Eric’s motivation for going on the show were questionable since the messages allegedly stated he wanted to see if “there was something else [he] could do with [his] life.”
And to top it all off, the couple simply had different priorities which no longer made the relationship tenable. A source confirmed the following: “She felt they weren’t aligned and weren’t on the same page.
“Gabby was hoping they could give each other space and work it out but ultimately decided they didn’t have a future.” The rumours over discontent first emerged after Eric decided to not support Gabby on her ‘Dancing with the Stars’ performance.
During the course of her Halloween performance, Eric was noticeably absent from the crowd. As such, there were question marks over why he was not present, which only went on to exacerbate the existing tensions.
And that was summed up by Gabby’s following comments at the time: “I think life is just really busy for the both of us right now, so I understand [fans’] concern. We’re just kind of, you know, going forward with each of our individual interests and supporting each other from afar.”
As long as the pair manage to move on to better things, then they will not mind too much if things didn’t work out. And in fact, it could be exactly what they needed to kickstart things.
