Kanye West Bashes Media's Normalisation Of People Being Overweight-'It’s Demonic'

Kanye West has bashed the media for normalising the concept of being overweight.

The rapper’s comments were made in relation to his friend, Lizzo, who has attracted criticism for her image. She is known for being one of the very few plus-size entertainers. And yet, Kanye felt that she was being shoehorned into a box where her weight-loss journey was being condemned.

In his comments, he said: “Lizzo works with my trainer, a friend of mine. When Lizzo loses ten pounds and announces it…the bots they attack her because the media wants to put out a perception that being overweight is the new goal, when it’s actually unhealthy.”

Those comments became controversial since they touched upon some very sensitive issues. First of all, the rapper has reportedly had weight-loss surgery in the past. He previously admitted that he underwent liposuction to aid that process.

This is the process where someone can have any excess fat removed from their skin. Secondly, it appeared that Kanye’s comments may have inadvertently shaded all those who were comfortable with not being slim.

And yet, the star simply doubled down on his beliefs. Kanye’s following comments confirmed as much: “Let’s put aside that it’s fashion and Vogue, which it’s not, or if someone thinks it’s attractive, to each his own, it’s actually clinically unhealthy. And for people to promote that, it’s demonic.”

The fans on social media were very vocal in opposition to Kanye’s comments. A significant proportion of the fan base felt it was not for him to speak about another’s body. One person wrote: “Kanye talking about Lizzo’s weight when he had weight loss surgery is crazy.

“Lizzo is out here just minding her business making people happy. I hope she’s having a great night.” Kanye has made his stance clear even if it did alienate a lot of people who felt he overstepped the mark. So there you have it folks.
