Kanye West Confused By The Backlash To His White Lives Matter Top-‘He Doesn’t Understand’
The rapper generated a lot of talking points when he was pictured wearing a top alongside Candace Owens with those said words at Paris Fashion Week. It is alleged that Jaden Smith left the fashion show once he became aware of the design, while Kanye received a lot of criticism online.
And yet, sources close to the rapper have shut down any claims that this was done as a publicity stunt for clout. A source said the following: “He thinks it’s a PC thing. He wants to give a voice to the ‘other side’ [of the race debate in America]. He doesn’t understand why people aren’t seeing that.”
Nevertheless, those comments have to be taken with a pinch of salt for the following reasons. First of all, Kanye followed up his statement with further comments that were inflammatory.
He made it clear in no uncertain terms that the Black Lives Matter movement was a ‘scam.’ That did not go down very well with its supporters who felt that this organisation was a way to combat police brutality.
Secondly, Ahmaud Arbery’s m other, Wanda Cooper-Jones, has expressed dissatisfaction with Kanye’s comments after suggestions that they went against his response following the death of her son in a racially motivated attack.
In a statement made on behalf of Wanda, her attorney Lee Merritt said: “It’s confusing for her, it’s confusing for the families to receive his support privately, but publicly to set us all back.”
The rapper has shown time and again that he will continue to do what he thinks is best, regardless of what others may have to say about it all. And that is not going to change anytime soon. Time will tell if there are any further ramifications for Kanye.
