The NFL and Roc Nation have reportedly been in talks with Rihanna to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which could be yet another questionable decision on behalf of the National Football League. After knocking it out of the park last year with Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg, it looks like they are back to their old ways of picking pop stars.

There have been numerous discussions with Rihanna and her team. We don’t know if she’s a sure thing, but the NFL could tweet out the names of the people appearing as early as Sunday afternoon. Jay-Z’s decision to choose Rihanna was simple because she is a Roc Nation artist. By the way, Rihanna has been teasing new music for more than a year, and the Super Bowl Halftime Show would be the ideal venue for its debut.

It’s fascinating because she disagreed with how the NFL handled Colin Kaepernick, so she turned down the chance to perform as the halftime show’s headlining act at the 2020 Super Bowl. Taylor Swift was approached by the NFL months ago to perform at the Halftime Show, but she declined.

She has reportedly expressed interest in performing at the Super Bowl, but only after recording all 6 of her early albums again; she has only done so with two of them.

After the uproar from the internet regarding Taylor Swift at the halftime show, we’re not sure that Rihanna is really that much of a step up. Of course, office politics will tell us it’s a good idea because she’s a woman of color, but frankly, football fans aren’t typically Rihanna fans and would like to see rock bands or something like we saw last year.

At least we seem to know that Taylor Swift was just a rumor and she will not be headlining, of course, now people are wondering if she could share the stage with Rihanna at one point.

What do you think? Who should the NFL get for the Super Bowl Halftime show? Let us know in the comments below.
