Believe it or not you guys, this is almost over. There are reports that say Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s lawyers are preparing their closing arguments in their defamation case. Johnny is suing Amber for $50 million for a piece that she wrote for the Washington Post in which she replied that she was a victim of abuse. Amber is counter suing her ex for $100 million. After six weeks of evidence and details of violent altercations between the pair, closing arguments are due in the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. While Heard’s article does not mention her ex-husband by name, yet his lawyers say it falsely implies he physically and sexually abused Ms Heard while they were together. Over the course of the trial jurors have heard evidence from a raft of family members, friends, work associates and medical experts.

Both Depp and Heard have also taken to the stand twice to give evidence and undergo cross-examination from the opposing legal teams. In her testimony Heard has graphically recounted instances of physical and sexual violence that she claims she suffered at the hands of Mr Depp, several times becoming visibly upset.
Just last week, Heard said that she can’t open up a social media app without getting harassed by Johnny Depp’s die hard fans on almost a daily basis. The actress even said that all she now has is her “name” which her ex-husband apparently promised to take away from her. Amber also added that she became “bombarded” with online harassment from Johnny Depp supporters after she filed for a domestic violence restraining order against the actor in 2016.
During her testimony, Heard said, “I was begging Johnny to not make me prove what I’ve had to sit on this stand in front of all of you and prove and talk about. I was begging not to have do this, and sit where I am sitting. I didn’t want this. I don’t wanna be here. … I was trying to get him to not call me a liar, because everything that I had said to date and everything I’ve said to date now is the truth.”
She added, “I wanted to clear my name. That’s all I have. … All I have is my name. I come from nothing. All I have is my integrity. All I have is my name — and that’s exactly what he promised to take from me.”
