The two have not been on cordial terms ever since Meghan revealed that her father had been staging paparazzi photos and speaking with the tabloids in the run-up to her wedding with Prince Harry.
But when Thomas was hospitalised after suffering from a stroke, there was pressure on Meghan to establish contact from none other than her half-sister Samantha Markle. The latter slammed the Duchess and urged her to do the right thing by preventing the stress that her father was suffering after having not seen her.
And with Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee on the horizon, which Meghan is expected to attend alongside Prince Harry, there is a feeling Meghan had no choice but to reach out given the media backlash she would have suffered if she hadn’t.
A source said: “Despite their estrangement, Meghan is concerned. She wants to know if there is any way to contact her father privately, without other family knowing about it or having to get involved.”
Much in the same way, it appears that Harry and Prince William have also managed to bury the hatchet in the run-up to the jubilee. Reports indicate that the pair have been communicating. As such, they have decided to put things behind them for the sake of making sure that the monarch has the best possible celebration.
In response, the fans on social media welcomed the attempts at reconciliation from all parties involved. People felt that this was a long time coming and could only benefit the Royal family. One person wrote: “I knew that at some point something would bring them back together.
“They are brothers after all, -THAT comes first. Blood is thicker than water darlings.” Hopefully, everyone can remain cordial. And that can only be a good thing going forward. Time will tell if that does end up transpiring. So there you have it folks.
