Candace Cameron Bure broke down in tears after admitting that she did not speak out in the aftermath of the Texas school shooting at Robb Elementary School.

The incident was a massive tragedy that led to the death of 19 children and 2 adults in an attack that was orchestrated by the defendant Salvador Ramos. And after having remained quiet in the aftermath, Candace got emotionally overwhelmed when she addressed this topic.

This was partly due to the fact that she was criticised for not speaking out against another shooting this month at Buffalo supermarket, New York, that was reportedly done by Payton Gendron.

That is why she took her time before speaking out about this tragedy. In a post to her fans on Instagram, Candace said: “With the tragedy and the loss of those 21 people that is so hard, and as a mother I grieve and I just want to grieve with the people of Uvalde and the families.

“My heart just hurts for you, but that’s all I want to say on social media right now…I’m grieving with you.” Candace’s comments do hold some weight. There is an element of virtue signalling that has recently emerged, with high-profile people speaking out against certain atrocities, while staying silent on more noticeable ones.

And given that all loss of life is tragic,  the idea that people have to address something vocally on social media to show their true feelings about it has to change. As such, Candace admitted that she will only share things if she is ready rather than conforming to what others may expect of her.

She added: “Some of us don’t always feel comfortable to, like, have to post everything. And that’s all there is to it. … I don’t want to feel like I have to post it for me to acknowledge my feelings for doing what I’m doing.”
