John Mulaney has been slammed for allowing Dave Chappelle to open his show in Ohio.
John Mulaney Slammed For Allowing ‘Transphobic’ Dave Chappelle To Open His Show-‘Can Trans People F**king Breathe?’
According to reports, the show went ahead on Friday, 20th May 2022. But given that people expected to see John, they were surprised when Dave walked out. This is particularly true since John does have a huge fan base that originates from the LGBTQ+ community, something which Dave is not exactly popular with.
It was no surprise, then, that Dave’s material did not go down very well. Members of the audience were offended by the fact that Dave had allegedly told some jokes that were deemed to be transphobic and homophobic.
And this all came to the fore on social media after members of the audience were allegedly not allowed to film. One person wrote: “John Mulaney is a piece of s**t for not giving a single f**k about the many trans members of his audience that had to sit through Chapelle’s unnecessary transphobic tirades that he calls jokes.
“Can trans people f**king breathe?” While another person stated: “Okay so tell me why I just went to the John Mulaney show and Dave Chappelle was a surprise opener and made not only a transphobic joke but a homophobic one.”
This is not the first time that Dave has been accused of making transphobic jokes. His Netflix show entitled ‘The Closer’ faced similar accusations. So much so that Netflix employees decided to hold a walk out protest in the hope that they could put pressure on the platform to cancel his show.
Although the show continued as normal, it is not clear if this act will raise up the debate over Dave being cancelled once again. John has yet to respond to the criticism, which is understandable, given the unnecessary media attention it will degenerate.
