In the defamation case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, a lot has come out today. On Thursday, Depp gave out a lot of information that really shocked some of his fans. While he was being cross-examined by Heard’s legal team, he was open and honest about doing recreational drugs with some of his close friends.

Depp found himself in hot water when his text messages to his friends were used as evidence. These texts did refer to drinking and doing drugs with his friends. He also referred to his drug and alcohol abuse as his “monster”. There were texts between Depp and Paul Bettany that joked about killing Heard. Her attorney then asked if Bettany was a person that Depp would do drugs with occasionally and he said, “Yes. That’s a strange question. Paul Bettany is a good friend, yes.”

Bettany and Depp did quite a few movies together and he mentioned that they would do drugs together “at times.” In the texts, however, Depp wrote to Bettany, “Let’s drown her before we burn her! I will f**k her burnt corpse afterward to make sure she is dead.” Bettany then replied, “My thoughts entirely! Let’s be CERTAIN before we pronounce her a witch.”
Later, Depp was then asked if he had done any drugs, like cocaine, with Marilyn Manson, and he said, “We’ve had cocaine together maybe a couple of times. I once gave Marilyn Manson a pill so that he would stop talking so much.” Bettany has claimed that he is embarrassed for the texting that he and Depp did and didn’t see it as harmful at all.
He told the Times, “I knew him before. But we hadn’t spoken for years. During the marriage, I didn’t know them. So I wasn’t around for any of that. We live in a world without context.”
Heard had yet to take the stand and Depp is suing her for defamation because of an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post on surviving domestic violence. She never mentioned his name in the article, but it was assumed that it was about him. He feels that he has lost many oportunites to be in movies and television becuse of her and this is why he has taken her to court.
We will continue to keep an eye on this case as it progresses. It does see that it will continue on for days to come.
