Mila Kunis has opened up on how the current Russia-Ukraine war has been an eye-opening experience.

Mila Kunis Admits She Has Been ‘Awestricken’ By The Ukrainian People Amid The War

The actress moved to the United States at a very young age, but the current war has made her feel more proud to be Ukrainian. In order to show just how much the country meant to her, she decided to set up a fundraiser with her husband, Ashton Kutcher to aid the people of Ukraine.

And this was a huge success, as they have raised $25 million so far. But for all the things she has done, she admitted that the war made her re-evaluate her world view.

In an interview on the #ConversationsAboveTheNoise’ show, she said: “It’s been irrelevant to me that I come from Ukraine. It never mattered. So much so that I’ve always said I’m Russian.

“I would tell people I’m from Ukraine, the first question I’d get was ‘Where is Ukraine?.. [But]  everything changed [with the war.]” Aside from going through her own personal growth, Mila admitted that she was inspired by the people of Ukraine who continued to persevere in the face of such struggles.

This was not only those that had managed to escape through treacherous journeys, but also those that had made the decision to stay in the country and continue on with life. She added: “They have to protect themselves in the city, and they go to their office to continue working.

“I’m not pleasantly surprised, but I’m awestricken by this group of people. They’re fighting with their own makeshift weapons,” Kunis said. “It is inspiring.” Much in the same way, Mila directed her praise to the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky.

She admitted that she had met him with Ashton prior to the pandemic starting and had a conversation where he spoke on how he wanted to “empower the people.” It is safe to say that everyone can learn and praise the courage that the Ukrainian people have shown.

And hopefully, this will be enough to prevent the current conflict which has decimated so many lives. So there you have it folks. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
