Say it isn’t so! The Young and the Restless spoilers indicate that Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby) will soon be saying good-bye to Genoa City. The news came as a surprise to fans, as they have enjoyed seeing him on the show ever since he first started back in 2006.

According to reports, it appears as though Daniel was left pretty surprised by the decision that was made by the producers of the hit CBS soap. Sharing a photo outside of the CBS studios, Daniel wrote on his Twitter account, “It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news that I will no longer be part of the cast of the Young & the Restless. I’m as shocked & gutted as u r. I’m forever grateful for my 13yrs in the Y&R family but sadly it seems that without Neil & Lily… there just is no Cane.”

The actor ended his tweet with a broken heart emoji, but he didn’t specify whether he was fired or if he was simply let go from the soap. Either way, his fans have made it no secret that he will surely be missed on the show. Many of them commented on the news with, “I’m shocked and sad. You have always been so wonderful to all of your fans and help to promote the show. We love you so much I may cry,” along with, “I don’t know who made the decision but this is awful. I’m hoping that maybe Ron Carlivati may see this and offer you a role on Days of Our Lives.”
Another fan wrote, “So you are leaving? With is up with the writers? They need to quit bringing in new people and use the veterans that they have. Veterans equals substance!”
