Britney Spears has certainly had her share of online drama with her family lately. In particular, Jamie Lynn Spears. But there’s been a lot to celebrate for the singer as well. She’s been sharing posts about getting to do things that were denied her for a long time. Plus, adding new fur babies to her family. However, this time, the singer took to Instagram to share something that really touched her. Here’s what you need to know.
Britney Spears in Washington?
So, Britney Spears’ fight for freedom has been a huge story. You might have read about other cases that have been brought to late, thanks to her struggle. But it got attention outside of the media and the conservatorship system. Even Congress took note of what was going on.
In a new Instagram post, the singer shared an old letter she received shortly after getting out of the conservatorship. Signed by Charlie Crist and Eric Swalwell, the letter congratulated her and Matthew Rosengart on their victory. Saying, “Your journey towards justice will inspire and empower many others who are improperly silenced by the conservatorship process.”
The members of congress then invited the singer to share her story, adding, “Please know that you are under no obligation to do anything more, but fight for yourself, but if you are willing, we would appreciate learning more about the emotional and financial turmoil you faced within the conservatorship system.”
Britney Spears reacts
Alongside the picture of the letter, the singer opened up about what it meant to her. She wrote, “I received this letter months ago … An invitation to share my story … I was immediately flattered and at the time I wasn’t nearly at the healing stage I’m in now … Number 1 – I’m grateful that my story was even ACKNOWLEDGED!!! Because of the letter, I felt heard and like I mattered for the first time in my life !!! In a world where your own family goes against you, it’s actually hard to find people that get it and show empathy!!!! Again, I’m not here to be a victim although I’m the first to admit I’m pretty messed up by it all … I want to help others in vulnerable situations, take life by the balls and be brave!!! I wish I would have been … I was so scared and nothing is worse than your own family doing what they did to me … I’m lucky to have a small circle of adorable friends who I can count on … In the mean time thank you to Congress for inviting me to the White House.”
What’s next for Britney Spears?
Given what she said about the healing stage she’s at now, we wouldn’t be surprised if she accepted that invite one of these days. And eventually opened up in other avenues while also getting back to work. She mentioned in another post there were projects in the works with her attorney, so we’ll see. Whatever she chooses to do, you can bet that the singer will continue to work on her healing and sharing with fans.
