Prince William reportedly did not want to attend the unveiling of a statue in memory of his late mother Princess Diana alongside Prince Harry.
Prince William Did Not Want To Unveil Diana’s Statue Alongside Prince Harry
Reports indicate that this was based on the grounds that William was not best pleased with his brother’s controversial interview alongside Meghan Markle on Oprah Winfrey.
If these comments were taken to be true, then it is understandable for the following reasons. First of all, Harry’s interview only went on to foster division which was something that their mother was firmly against.
Secondly, given that a reconciliation had not occurred prior to them attending that event, the very fact of the matter is that there was always going to be an element of uncertainty until their issues had been put to bed.
A source said: “[William had] taken the view that he could only ‘give so much’ to Harry.” This begs the question, why did William decide to go ahead with the meeting?
Well, Kate Middleton had played a crucial role in ensuring that William was in the right frame of mind to be able to do this. And this was also shown during her role when Harry attended the funeral of the late Prince Philip.
Kate was seen as a peacemaker, as she facilitated the conversations between the two brothers, as famously shown when they were walking together with her in between.
Another insider remarked: “[Kate] was amazing behind the scenes when Harry came.” Not only that, but the failure of the two brothers to reconcile on an event of mass importance such as this would have created further negative headlines.
If the pair were not able to put aside their differences for the sake of their mother, who would clearly be disappointed with how they have been behaving, then it is safe to say that there was no chance of them ever patching things up.
But with William managing to put his grievances aside, it does demonstrate that there is still a desire for the two brothers to get back on good terms. And that is the most important thing that should be remembered.
