Andy had infamously been presenting a New Year’s special show in which he decided to bash the rival ABC network. But as it turned out, he happened to be visibly drunk which may have explained why he had such an outburst.
Although he has held his hands up since the incident and apologised, the very fact of the matter is that CNN had to come out and address the situation in light of the increasing media scrutiny that he was being subjected to.
As Kelly and Ryan are very good friends by virtue of the fact that they have presented a show together entitled ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan,’ fans could be forgiven if they thought that Kelly was peeved with Andy. The latter, though, denied anything of the sort.
In an interview on the ‘Howard Stern Show’ he said: “She is not upset with me. As I was going on my rant about Journey, I did wind up kind of starting to throw ABC under the bus. And that is my only regret from the night.”
While those comments should be welcomed, the main question is whether Ryan was left hurt by it all. Accordingly, Andy had decided to reach out to him via text message to let him know that there were no hard feelings about it.
Given that Ryan did not make a public statement in response, it would seem to suggest that all is well between the two.
In addition, they have a long-standing relationship that has extended over many years which would suggest that it will take a lot more than a gaffe by Andy to destroy the whole relationship.
Andy’s following comments confirmed as much: “I really like Ryan Seacrest. He’s a really nice guy.” Andy will be relieved that his comments did not lead to major damage, as another day, who knows whether it would have cost him his job.
