Disgraced British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell has been convicted on Wednesday of sex trafficking in a New York court.

After five days of deliberating the jury found Maxwell guilty of five of the six counts where she was accused of luring underage girls to be sexually abused by American finance tycoon, Jeffrey Epstein.

The month-long trial detailed sordid details of Epstein and Maxwell’s exploitation of girls as young as 14, four of whom testified and described to the court and jury the abuse they endured at the hands of Epstein and his accomplice.

In total, 24 witnesses gave testimony including a housekeeper who claimed he was expected to be “blind, deaf and dumb” about what went on in Epstein’s palatial homes and pilots of Epstein’s private jets who name-dropped Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, Donald Trump and others who flew with the financier.

No sentencing date for Maxwell has been set yet, but each of the counts she has been found guilty of demand prison sentences that range between 5 and 40 years each.

Maxwell’s defense team tried to claim Maxwell herself was a victim, not of Epstein, but of an of prosecution who were after blood for the abused women who could no longer have their day in court with Epstein after he “committed suicide” in prison while awaiting his own trial in 2019.

However, the victims have spent years fighting in civil court to hold Maxwell accountable for her part in the recruitment and grooming of the teenagers in the late ’90s and early 2000s. It was also claimed that Epstein’s onetime girlfriend turned “business associate”– who earned over $30 million by working for the millionaire– occasionally joined in on the sexual abuse.

Maxwell remained stoic as the verdict was read. She still faces more charges and awaits her trial for two counts of perjury.
