    Big Time Rush

Boyband ‘Big Time Rush’ have been blasted after performing at a concert, despite one member from the band testing positive for Covid.

According to reports, the band’s lead singer Kendall Schmidt did not perform in New York City as a result of the fact that he had come back with a positive result.

And yet, that was not enough to prevent the other members from performing even though they had obviously been in close circulation with Kendall by virtue of being in a band.

Things did not make for good reading, when it transpired that the band had also had VIP meetings with fans. Naturally, the response on social media was one of shock.

A large proportion of people felt that there was a huge contradiction, because on one hand, people were told to be extra vigilant in light of the Omicron variant. While on the other hand, this story also showed a clear disregard for Covid testing and protocols.

One person on TikTok wrote: “Some people started yelling like, why is the show going on, they were all exposed.

“And the tour manager was like, oh no they weren’t, they all got negative tests.” If these comments are taken to be true, then there could be serious repercussions for the following reasons.

First of all, people may have felt that their lives had become endangered by virtue of the fact that they were in the presence of people who had come into contact with a person that had tested positive.

Secondly, it is also not out of the realms of possibilities that the other band members could test positive in the aftermath of the performance, which would then potentially jeopardise any of the concert-goers that attended.

At a time when the pandemic is not looking like it will go away any time soon, it is extremely important to be as transparent as possible.

In this way, people can feel assured that they have some form of normality, when they try to get back to their normal lives and do things they enjoy such concerts like this one.
