Amy Duggar has defended her cousin Jana Duggar following the news that the latter had been accused of child endangerment.

According to reports, Jana had been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor. While she has pleaded not guilty to this charge, she is expected to attend a court hearing in January in order to see whether or not she will be let off.
But given that she was doing a good deed by babysitting, Amy stated that it was very harsh to criticise her when she was simply helping someone out.
In a post to her fans on Twitter, Amy said: “I believe that if you are a parent you should watch your own children. It’s not right to always have someone else watching them for you.”
In Jana’s defence, it was not simply a case of the fact that she had neglected a child. It turns out that the child had managed to slip away from under her grasp, which suggested that this mistake could have happened to anyone on a given day.
In a statement at the time, Jana had remarked: “I was babysitting a few months ago when one of the children wandered outside alone.
“A passerby…recognised it was a case of a child slipping out of the house when you turn your back for a moment.”
That is why Amy called out the family that ended up taking advantage of Jana. She felt that the parents should have been doing more in order to look after their children.
While it is understandable to expect some support from the extended family, the very fact of the matter is that Jana was not the parent.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “Your kids even your older kids should not be your built in babysitter. Your kids no matter what their age is should be able to live a normal adolescent life.
“If you’re gonna have that many kids then be responsible for them.” Amy does have a point, but whether the courts agree is anyone’s guess. We will have to see how this will all play out.
