The Royal family’s attempts to come across as relatable to the ordinary public have massively backfired.
Psychologist Claims Meghan Markle Has ‘Some Inauthenticity’
That is according to well-renowned celebrity psychologist Richard Reid. It is no surprise that the Royal family is often singled out for criticism, given the amount of wealth that they have.
As such, a certain subset of people believe that they should be doing more in order to give back to the community. This is more pertinent now than ever, as a result of the pandemic which has crippled the livelihoods of many people across the world.
But their personalities have ultimately not helped in getting the public on side. In an interview, Richard said: “They are] wooden and mechanical.
“For the younger one’s it doesn’t work so well. There’s often a mismatch between what they’re saying and how they’re using their body language and facial expressions.”
This begs the question, who is Richard referring to? While he acknowledged that this was a universal thing that all members of the Royal family could work on, he went on to specifically discuss the need for Meghan Markle to improve her public image.
And yet, this was a surprise for the following reasons. First of all, Meghan is an actress by trade. Therefore, the last thing you would expect to hear is that she has problems coming across well.
Secondly, given that she left the Royal family, the added pressure that would have otherwise come with having Royal duties is no longer there. Having said that, though, Richard feels there is more work to be done.
He added: “There’s some inauthenticity there. How she uses her words is very, very good, but the thing that gives her away is the eyes.
“There are certain things you can mechanically learn to make yourself appear to be feeling a certain way, but there are some things that are very hard to manipulate.”
In defence of Meghan, it is more important to say that it is more about what she does rather than how she comes across. And that is something that she will be looking to work on going forward within her future endeavours.
