Let’s just say it’s going to take a very long time for Alec Baldwin to recover from this, if at all. And no, we are not talking about his PTSD after he accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust,” but his credibility with the public.
That’s because the actor says he “does not feel guilt” over Halyna’s death as he’s not the one responsible. SMH, indeed. Here’s what you need to know.
Alec Baldwin’s Credibility Takes A Dump Following ABC News Interview
In his first interview with Good Morning America, when asked if he felt guilty over Halyna’s death, he said, “No. No. I feel that… someone is responsible for what happened and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me. Honest to God, if I felt that I was responsible, I might’ve killed myself if I thought that I was responsible. And I don’t say that lightly.”
He added that he dreams about the incident “constantly” and his career may well be over. “I couldn’t give a s**t about my career anymore,” he said.
If that weren’t enough, Alec said he cocked the gun, which means to hold the gun in position, that killed Hutchins but “didn’t pull the trigger.” He recalled that during the rehearsal, the film’s first assistant director, Dave Halls, handed him a revolver and told him “this is a cold gun” – an industry term for a weapon that is either empty or loaded with dummy rounds.
Many comments from internet naysayers have included, “When is Alec Baldwin going to get cancelled? He needs to be cancelled. I used to like him in the past, but in the past 10 years he’s proven over and over again to be a narcissistic piece of trash. In the end Alec .. you pointed the gun that killed her,” along with, “Alec adds that he had no idea he had even shot Halyna, saying that he thought she had fainted and wasn’t informed until about 45 minutes to an hour later that there was a bullet in the gun that went off and that she had been shot to death. So…after he was rushed off the set and she was air lifted to the hospital he had no idea she was shot, but assumed she had fainted? JFC what a liar!”
Another critic wrote, “ust WOW. I’ve been keeping away from this story because it’s just so sad but I totally hate Alex now. You killed someone, intentionally or not, and you don’t feel any guilt or remorse??? It was another human being and you were an integral part of the action that killed her. I don’t understand that level of disassociation from human feelings and emotions. I think I’m starting to understand why he was so good a playing Trump all those years.”
