Wayne Scot Lukas, who happened to be a former stylist of Janet Jackson, has denied claims that he had altered the dress that she had worn during her infamous 2004 performance with Justin Timberlake at the Super Bowl.
Janet Jackson’s Former Stylist Denies He Altered Her Dress Prior To Her Super Bowl Mishap
The performance lived long in the memory for all the wrong reasons, given that Janet’s breast had been exposed during a malfunction with the dress as she was dancing with Justin.
And following the release of the documentary entitled ‘Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson,’ claims were made that Wayne’s conduct may have contributed to this.
In the documentary, MTV executive Salli Frattini alleges that Janet and Wayne had decided to change the dress by putting on a nipple cover despite the dress being approved by the producers before the performance.
Thereafter, it is claimed that Justin, Janet and Wayne had a conversation for some time. This included the following comments: “My instincts told me that there was a private conversation between wardrobe stylists and artists where someone thought this would be a good idea, and it backfired.”
And yet, Wayne stresses that he only did what he was told to do. As such, Wayne is being used as a scapegoat for an incident that people would rather forget.
After all, it was the last time that Janet really appeared at a major event. During an interview with Access Hollywood, Wayne defended his conduct.
He said: “I stand 100 percent by my story that I did exactly what I was supposed to do, what I was hired for and if I ever hurt my friend, I wouldn’t have worked with Janet.”
Instead, Wayne hit out at the producers for not ensuring that Janet’s body was covered up. In this way, he feels that they let down Janet and the welfare of the people in the crowd.
His following comments confirmed as much: “You were never supposed to see a movement where a breast was out, a body part was out.
“They were supposed to cut to black … somebody didn’t push the button. Somebody didn’t protect my friend.” If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
