Don’t you just hate it when the entire world knows your phone number because it was featured in a massively popular series on the streaming giant otherwise known as Netflix? Well, that’s exactly what happened to one woman from South Korea after he phone number was accidentally featured in the hit series, “Squid Games.”

The show is about a number of indebted contestants who play children’s games for money. In one scene, they are invited to ring a phone number, which happens to be the same number of a florist living in South Korea. Here’s what you need to know.

Netflix Edits Key Phone Number From “Squid Games” Following Prank Calls

According to reports, Kim Gil-young told local broadcaster SBS she had been hit with tons of calls and texts, but could not change her number for fear of losing clients.

“This is a number that I’ve been using for more than 10 years, so I’m quite taken aback. There are more than 4,000 numbers that I’ve had to delete from my phone,” the businesswoman told the South Korean newspaper Money Today.

“At first I didn’t know why, but my friend told me that my number came out in Squid Game and that’s when I realised,” she said, adding that some pranksters asked in the dead of night “to join Squid Game“ before hanging up.

The woman said it was impossible for her to change her number due to client contacts. She is reported to have rejected compensation offers of up to 5m won, though Netflix has not commented on the compensation claims.

However, Netflix was forced to comment on the matter with a statement that said: “Together with the production company, we are working to resolve this matter, including editing scenes with phone numbers where necessary.”

The show, written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, premiered on September 17 and reached the number one spot for 90 countries in just 10 days.
