She told her fans, “We got married when I was 30… and then I left. We kept the split private for a very long time.” She has shown that she still has a great bond and friendship with her ex because they do have a son together and want to set the best example for him as he grows up. She went on to say, “I was just going through the motions and I wasn’t happy. Neither of us did anything wrong. Neither of us hurt each other or anything like that. It was just: I just want my son to see me really love, and be loved. It’s really important to me.”
This divorce has been a lot of stress on everyone, but she feels that her son has been the most impacted by it. “He has so many simple questions for me that I can’t answer because I don’t know the answer. Like, ‘Why can’t we still live together?’
That’s just not what people do when they get divorced. ‘But why not?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t f*****g know. That’s not what society does.’ And ‘Why don’t you love my dad anymore?’ And I’d be like ‘I do love your dad. I’m just not in love.’ I can’t make that make sense to a nin-year-old.”
Adele has also talked about how her new album will basically help her son to understand what happened with their marriage. She is now dating Paul Rich. They met two years ago and just started dating in the early months of 2021. She likes being in this relationship with him because she feels that she is the one in charge and she knows what she wants this time around.
